We need green cars and there is Chevrolet volt which is the most popular electric car and people are buying it despite of its expensiveness. http://www.thegreenautos.com

Transportation vehicles produce most of the key chemicals that pollute the air, causing smog and health problems. Air quality is poorest in developing industrial nations, but 133 million Americans live in areas that fail at least one National Ambient Air Quality standard. Vehicles with higher fuel economy may produce less pollution over time than vehicles with lower fuel economy.

There will always be speculators about markets. But no one knows for sure what the market wants. That is until the water is tested. Then sales will tell you what the consumers want. The Tesla Sportster is a cool looking car but the Volt is priced more affordably.

I prefer green cars. Gas powered cars waste about 2/3 of their fuel in excess heat...gone, bye bye, up and away. Just think that of every $1.00 you put in the gas tank, only $0.33 goes towards actually moving you towards your destination!

I don't know, I'm not entirely convinced with electric cars. Being a petrolhead, I still prefer a fast-mover. But the technology is still evolving and maybe after a few years we will all see an electric sports car. In the mean time, it looks like Chevy is going head to head with Toyota and Nissan in the alternative energy car industry. We'll see.
